Ben Affleck Finally REVEALS The Reason For Hanging Up His Batman Cape

Ben Affleck revealed the actual reason for why he wont be playing Batman anymore and we don't know he feel about it.

DC fans have been waiting for a Batman movie since a really long time. There have been many actors in the past who have played the role of Batman. After Christian Bale played the role for the last time in 'The Dark Night Rises', Ben Affleck took over the role in the film 'Batman Vs Superman'. He continued to play the role in the film Justice League as well, even as he got mixed reactions from the fans.

The actor had decided to quit the role and he would not be appearing in the next Batman film, as reported by Comic Book. Ben had earlier spoken about discontinuing to play Batman in Jimmy Kimmel Live. He even spoke about an official 'jersey retirement' but recently he talked more in more detail about it, as reported by IGN. The actor revealed the real reason for why he doesn't want to play Batman anymore.

The actor said that the script of the film didn't seem very appealing to him and he didn't want to do something that was not interesting to him. "That was part of the problem," said Affleck. "We worked on the script, I was trying to figure out how to crack it, and I was never happy enough with it where I thought it was worth going out and making it because I just didn't want to do a version that I wasn't really excited by, so I still don't know."

The actor also spoke about his attempts to work on the film two years back. At that time he said that he didn't want to rush into things and work on it a bit more till he is confident about it.

"I don’t have a script that’s ready yet. My timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good because I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out," Affleck earlier told IGN in 2016.

In the same interview, he also spoke about how high the standards need to be to make a Batman film.  "I have a script, we’re still working on it, and I’m not happy enough with it yet to actually go out there and make a Batman movie, for which I have the highest of standards, I would say. That’s something that would have to pass a very high bar for me. It’s not just like, 'Yeah, that might be fun, let’s go try this out.'"

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, the actor talked about quitting the role. He said, "Yeah, I am. I have decided -- I tried to direct a version of it, worked with a really good screenwriter, but couldn't come up with a version," Affleck told Kimmel during his appearance on the late-night show. "Couldn't crack it. So I thought it was time to let someone else take a shot at it, and they got some really good people."

If not Affleck, then who is going to play Batman? Well, the makers of the film have not revealed that yet but as the film goes further into production, more details will be revealed soon.

Warner Bros. had earlier announced that the new Batman film will be directed by Matt Reeves. According to IGN, Toby Emmerich, President, and Chief Content Officer, Warner Bros. Pictures Group, said, "We are thrilled to have Matt Reeves taking the helm of Batman, the crown jewel of our DC slate."

"Matt’s deep roots in genre films and his evolution into an emotional world-building director make him the perfect filmmaker to guide the Dark Knight through this next journey,” they added. Reeves too talked about how much he loves the DC character and he feels thrilled to get an opportunity to work on a Batman movie.

“I have loved the Batman story since I was a child. He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen," Reeves said in a statement. The fans can only hope that the makers pick a legit actor who fits the role of the superhero perfectly.

The hardcore Batman fans take it super seriously and if they aren't happy with their pick, there is a possibility that the studio might face a backlash. The film is set to hit the theatres on June 25, 2021. Its a long wait but we hope the makers get it all right for DC's upcoming film this year.
