Beetlejuice Fans Left Mortified After Realizing Disturbing Reason The Dad Wasn’t In The Sequel

Some fans of Beetlejuice could find it difficult to accept that the father from the first movie might not have shown in the sequel.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is the sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 classic and it follows the return of the iconic ghost, played by Michael Keaton.

Jenna Ortega plays Lydia Deetz’s daughter, and Winona Ryder returns as the adult version of the character.

Not to be overlooked is the reappearance of Delia’s stepmother, Catherine O’Hara.

Also joining the franchise for the second film is Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci.

However, The actor Jeffrey Jones, who portrayed Lydia’s father in the original movie, is absent from the sequel.

The 77-year-old hasn’t openly stated that he wasn’t involved with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but It seems that his career path shifted following his 2002 arrest.

The following year, Jones plead no contest to charges of possession of child pornography.

He received a five-year probationary term, counseling, and an order to register as a sexual offender for the rest of his life.

At the time, he reportedly said: “This concludes a really painful chapter in my life. I am sorry that this incident was allowed to occur. Such an event has never happened before and it will never happen again.”

But he was arrested twice for failing to update his status as a sexual offender: once in 2004 and again in 2010.

The star of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to an additional year of probation and 250 hours of community service.

In Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the movie opens with the Deetz family attending a funeral and lamenting Jones’s passing.

Since then, Jones has continued to make appearances in movies, returning to Deadwood: The Movie in 2019 and appearing in My Brothers’ Crossing in 2020.

Returning to the subject at hand, it appears that moviegoers have favored the new picture over the previous one. As one critic put it: “As good if not better than the first that is saying a lot!!”
