Is Beef going to return to our screens for a season 2? Let's explore.
Ali Wong and Steven Yeun's 'Beef' came out of nowhere and shocked Netflix subscribers with how good it was. Also, the performance of the leading cast is now Emmy contending. However, with the first season now over, fans are now wondering if the show will be returning for a new season? Well, we've created this live article to answer just that. We will answer all the questions as much as we could right now and then update this article as new information comes through. Here's everything we know so far about Beef Season 2.
'Beef' has been billed as a miniseries so on paper, the show isn't returning for a second season. The show has even been submitted in the miniseries, anthology, and TV movie category at the Emmys per Variety. With this in mind, I wouldn't get my hopes up for a season 2.
Series creator Lee Sung Jin did however speak about the possibility of a season 2 in an interview with Rolling Stone. He said:
“I wanted it to have a conclusive feel just in case, but there are a lot of ideas on my end to keep this story going. I think should we be blessed with a Season Two, there’s a lot of ways for Danny and Amy to continue. I have one really big general idea that I can’t really say yet, but I have three seasons mapped out in my head currently.”
Steven Yeun and Ali Wong were the main cast of the show but a new season may feature a new cast as the show is pitched as a limited anthology.
“Cards on the table, we did pitch this show as a limited anthology, so there is sort of a close-ended-ness to the story [of Danny and Amy],” Lee told ELLE. “But, if given the opportunity, of course, I'd love to explore them further, because Danny and Amy, I love those characters. But yeah, by design, though, this a close-ended narrative. I think in my 45-minute PowerPoint there was multiple other beefs and other character types to explore. We’ll see.”
It's anyone's best guess at this point. With the show's success Netflix could opt for a new season but nothing is certain now. We will update this article as new information comes through.
