This Italian teen drama series became a hit as soon as Netflix released the trailer. The concept of the show really intrigued fans and now with season 1 over everyone is curious to know about the second season. Well, here's everything we know so far about 'Baby' Season 2.
On November 30th, Netflix surprised us by releasing the super controversial Italian drama 'Baby'. It is a six-episode series about the real-life events of the child prostitution scandal in Italy called "Baby Squillo". The show follows two students at an elite high school in Rome who become fed up with their families and classmates and decide to venture into the world of prostitution. Not many people were aware of the crazy real-life scandal and the show sets out to not only bring it to light but to also entertain. And so they did. But are we getting a second season? Let's explore.
Good news! 'Baby' will be returning for another season! Netflix made the announcement only three weeks after releasing the first season. The news was released on the show's official Instagram account. But if that wasn't enough the convince you that it was returning, the main stars of the series including leads Benedetta Porcaroli and Alice Pagani confirmed the renewal themselves.
The second season is coming folks! Are you excited? Let's explore some more.
There has been no word on when the new season will premiere but we can say with almost absolute certainty that it will be released on Netflix either in November or December 2019. Unless something completely unexpected occurs we can look out for the new season during the Christmas season. In terms of the number of episodes, we can assume that, like the first season, the second will have six seasons.
Alice Pagani is expected to return as Ludovica as well as Benedetta Porcaroli as Chiara. These two are the show's main characters and since they did not die in the first season we can be sure to see them again. The two actresses even confirmed their return on social media.
We can also expect Brando Pacitto to return as the principal’s son Fabio, Chabeli Sastre as Chiara’s friend Camilla and Riccardo Mandolini as Damiano Younes. Paolo Calabresi, who played nightclub owner and pimp Saverio will not be returning after his character died in season 1. Whether or not he will be featured in any flashbacks is yet to be determined.
The possibilities for season 2 are endless and the writers have a lot of content to play with. We may see an interesting dynamic between Damiano and Chiara as we explore whether or not he will discover that she is an escort. Season 1 ended with the two finally succumbing to their amazing chemistry and kissing. It seemed like the perfect time for the two teens to begin dating but with the dark cloud of Chiara's secret sex work hanging over the relationship, it might be strenuous.
Who knows how Damiano would react if he knew his girlfriend had a double life. This for sure could cause a big argument between the two but may also cause Damiano's secrets to surface as it was revealed that he does have ties to nightclub owner and pimp Fiore.
It's unclear how the two are connected but it seemed as though he was all ready to go into business with Fiore either to sell drugs or to take part in some form of sex work himself.
The story may also go deeper into the lives of, not only, the main two girls, but other students in the class. In this way, we may see some new characters come into the light.
The story of season 2 will most likely be written by Antonio Le Fosse, Eleonora Trucchi, Marco Raspanti, Giacomo Mazzariol, and Re Salvador.
There is no trailer for 'Baby' Season 2 as of now but feel free to enjoy the trailer for the first season.
