'Avengers: Endgame' Crosses The Original Collection Of 'Avatar'

Continuing its winning streak, the total collection of the film has surpassed that of James Cameron's Avatar.

Since the release of 'Avengers: Endgame', there has been a massive competition between James Cameron's 'Avatar' and Marvel's 'Avengers: Endgame' and the latter has hit a new milestone now. Endgame has just surpassed the total collection of 'Avatar', but there is a catch to it. Avengers: Endgame has passed Avatar's box office, but it is only the box office total of Avatar's original theatrical run. Just to refresh your memory, 'Avatar' was re-released in theaters for an extended run and that generated the additional box office earnings that helped the movie reach the final record-setting total.

'Avengers: Endgame' was the biggest movie on the opening weekend and it also went on to become the highest-grossing film of 2019, the success of Endgame made it look really really easy to break the record of 'Avatar'. When Avatar was re-released, it added an additional $40 million in box office revenue, which means Endgame now has that final stretch so that they can take the position of the highest-grossing movie of all time. And in order to achieve that purpose, Marvel Studios followed the suit of 'Avatar'.

It was previously announced that Marvel will be re-released in theaters this coming weekend and they have some added incentive so that they can draw the fans back. Comicbook was the first one to break the story while speaking to Marvel's Kevin Feige at the Spider-Man: Far From Home press junket.

Feige said, "We are doing that. I don't know if it's been announced. And I don't know how much... Yeah, we're doing it next weekend." The re-release is said to include some additional footage at the end of the film, and they will also add a special tribute to Marvel creator Stan Lee, along with it, the re-release will also have a post-credit scene and Feige said that the extra footage will be worth a while for the fans.

Feige said, "Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there'll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend." But, the main question now is whether this Avengers: Endgame re-release, along with Marvel fans' collective drive to bring this to the top spot among the highest grossing movies of all time will work or not. But for that, we need to wait and watch.
