Spoiler Alert!! Fans of Avengers: Endgame have been wondering if the God of Mischief may still be alive due to the botched New York Tesseract Mission.
Avengers: Infinity War broke the hearts of many Marvel fans, leaving them in despair. Avengers: Endgame seemed to cure this despair by returning the world to its former self but, one thing that had many Marvel fans confused was the botched New York mission to retrieve the Tessaract and the escape of Loki. The fact of the matter is that Loki was meant to die in Avengers: Infinity War but his time line was interrupted before this point since he escaped with the Space Stone in the Endgame. This essentially means that in one timeline the God of Mischief escaped his own death or at least the death the original Loki faced in Avengers: Infinity War. This lead fans to believe that Loki was still alive somewhere, or rather some timeline?
This was just a fan theory until director Anthony Russo said “Loki could absolutely still be alive in an alternate timeline” in an interview with The Los Angeles Times. This essentially means that there is a version of Loki out there that has never redeemed himself, like the original Loki did in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok. Therefore, if Marvel ever wanted to have movies featuring a more immoral, younger Loki it would be completely possible.
Even though the future of Loki on the silver screen is shakey, the future of Loki on the Disney Plus Loki series is alive and well. The series is reportedly a prequel and features Tom Hiddleston as a narrator. The series is going to showcase Asgardian adventures throughout history and will be produced by Marvel Studios and therefore will most likely get tied into Avengers: Endgame.
