The world will not have to wait very long to see Avatar 3. That might sound too good to be true, as we had to wait a whopping 13 years to finally be able to watch Avatar: The Way of Water. The good news is the third movie has already been filed, so the movie should arrive sometime in winter 2024. In an interview with Digital Spy before the release of Avatar 2, James Cameron was confident that it was coming,

We've already done the bulk of the work. We still have to go through the whole finish process with Wētā FX on Avatar 3. But I'm pretty sure that we’re going to be back here in a couple of years.

Cameron has planned a four-movie epic, of which Avatar 5 will be the last, which is set to come out in 2028. The sequel is already a financial success, with  $600 million worldwide in its first week, so signs are promising that we'll get to see Cameron's entire vision.

When Will Avatar 3 be Released in Cinemas?

Cheers! We have a date... Avatar 3 will release in cinemas on December 20, 2024, assuming that the project won't see any delays. Because this movie heavily depends on post-production, it's hard to say if things will go as planned. We are also set to get Avatar 4 on December 18, 2026, and Avatar 5 on December 22, 2028.

What can We Expect from Avatar 3?

By the end of the movie, Avatar: Way of Water, The Sully family lost a member, but they are now part of the Metkayina clan. In Jake's closing monologue, it's clear that he is readying up for a major battle against the RDA to protect his family. "This is our fortress," he says, and unless Cameron changes his mind, it seems that we are heading toward a big battle. Needless to say that Kiri's parentage will play a major part in the coming installments. Whatever happens, we know that the Sully Family will continue to stay at the center of it all.

Who's Returning For Avatar 3?

Given the fact that Avatar 3 is already filmed, it's confined that Sam Worthington as Jake Sully and Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri will be back for the next installment. We might see flashbacks of Neteyam, but he is definitely not coming back and is surely dead in the movie. Every other family member who survived is also expected to be seen in the coming movie. So we can be sure to see Britain Dalton as their second son Lo'ak, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss as their youngest child Tuktirey and their adopted daughter Kiri, played by Sigourney Weaver, who is the biological daughter of Dr. Grace Augustine's avatar.
