After four seasons and almost a decade-long run of Attack on Titan, the epic tale of action, adventure, and mesmerizing storytelling is coming to an end. No one can logically deny that Attack on Titan is one of its kind and has been critically and commercially successful ever since it first aired in 2013. The post-apocalyptic manga written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama took the world by storm when it got an anime adaptation, and it continues to reign as one of the highest-rated anime of all time. Fans are counting the days and biting their nails in anticipation, waiting for the most awaited finale of Attack on Titan, and here is everything we know about it so far.
We are well aware of MAPPA Studio’s tight schedule with the upcoming projects and the ongoing Chainsaw Man, but despite not having an exact date of airing, at least we have official confirmation from MAPPA that season 4 part 3 will be released in 2023 for sure. The production studio has also released a couple of key visuals with the characters in it, and netizens predict that the wait for the finale will be worth it.
Attack on Titan tells the story of humanity living behind three concentric walls. A hundred years before the story began, mankind was driven to near extinction by gigantic humanoid creatures called Titans. Behind the walled cities, protagonist Eren Yeager lives with his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and friend Armin Arlert. Eren wished to enlist in the Survey Corps and venture out beyond the walls to battle the Titans in order to ensure the safety of civilians. However, in an ugly turn of events, a Colossal Titan breaches the outer wall of the city, and the monstrous creatures begin to pour in and feast on humans. Eren loses his mother in the chaos and ultimately joins the Survey Corps, unaware of what fate has in store for him. Eventually, Eren Yeager becomes something he never intended to become, and now the future of the entire world depends on his actions.
Yuki Kaji, Yui Ishikawa, and Marina Inoue will be reprising their roles as Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert for the season finale. Hiroshi Kamiya will be voicing the fan-favorite Levi Ackerman, whereas Yoshimasa Hosoya will voice Reiner Braun, and Kishou Taniyama will voice Jean Kirstein as a part of the supporting cast. The final leg of the show will be directed by Jun Shishido and Yuichiro Hayashi.
The final installment in this franchise will focus on the people of Paradis and Marley putting their differences aside and joining hands to survive The Rumbling, which was set in motion by Eren in season 4, part 2. The Survey Corps will lead the assault against Eren to stop him from wiping out all of humanity beyond the walls. Keeping all the spoilers aside, fans who haven’t read the manga should stay prepared for massive plot twists and shocks up ahead, as Attack on Titan has never failed anime lovers in the department of storytelling. It will most probably continue streaming on platforms like Crunchyroll and Funimation.
