Mat, of "houseofmat," created realistic and stunning digital imagery of his reimagined Avengers cast we can't deny how accurate it is.
What if Avengers was made in the 90s? It would have been an entirely different Marvel Cinematic Universe that we would be living in today. When Marvel itself has created a series reimagining famous events from the films in unexpected ways as the Disney+ series, What If...?, fans of the superhero films are one step ahead when it comes to creativity. One fan decided to reimagine how the Avengers live-action movies would be cast if they were made in the 90s. Considering there were a different set of iconic actors in the 90s, this artist recast the Avengers as they probably would have been assembled back then.
The actual Avengers actors include Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Wasp, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Tom Holland as Spiderman, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, James Rhodes as War Machine, and Paul Bettany as Vision.
While some of these actors were already making waves in the 90s, chances are they would probably not be selected to play the superhero they do now.
The Turkish graphic designer, Mat, created realistic and stunning digital imagery of his Avengers cast and even though we are used to the current actors, we can't deny how accurate his recasting is. As per his rendition, this is who he thinks would be cast in the film:
Where is the lie? In fact, the digital art was so impressive that the series was even featured on The Real Stan Lee website. Speaking to Bored Panda, the artist said, “I started 'houseofmat' on Instagram in 2016 and my specific artworks such as '90’s Avengers' helped me to grow. This series gained a lot of attention and began to trend. Stan Lee’s official website even published my artwork. That was an unforgettable moment for me."
Equipped with a Master's degree in Graphic Design, Mat said, “I usually work on superheroes, comics, games, cartoon characters as a concept illustrator. My purpose is creating undone artworks to leave a footprint to the art world.” He continues to create reimagined fanart work for not only the Avengers but other film franchises as well.
