Apple Is Offering Huge Free iPhone Upgrade Today But Only If Your Device Is Eligible

Apple’s iOS 18 update is finally here – but there’s a chance your phone won’t be able to get it.

Every year, Apple offers the largest iOS updates; the 2024 version was made available today, Monday, September 16.

One of the many exciting new features in the much awaited update is an update to the iPhone Control Center, which is one you won’t want to miss.

Per Apple’s website, the latest update ‘includes new sets of controls, which you can reach more fluidly with a single, continuous swipe down on the Home Screen’.

With iOS 18, you can also resize and rearrange your controls so you can quickly access the ones you use the most.

The ability to store walks on Apple Maps to your iPhone for offline access—a feature that comes in handy for all of you serious hikers—will also be helpful to you. (which is a typical occurrence while going out in distant and rural places).

It is also possible to create and customize your own routes.

If that’s wasn’t enough to peak your interest, you’ll also be able to create personalized emojis.

Senior Vice President of Software Engineering at Apple, Craig Federigh, maintains that the latest version has something ‘for everyone’.

“We are thrilled to introduce iOS 18,” he said. “It is a huge release with incredible features, including new levels of customisation and capability, a redesigned Photos app, and powerful ways to stay connected with Messages.

“There are so many benefits for everyone.”

Although the new update sounds fantastic, the actual question is whether you’ll be able to use it, and that depends on the specific model of iPhone you own.

In general, you should be able to receive the update if your model is from 2018 or later.

The iPhone XS and XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone SE 2, and the company’s most recent model, the iPhone 16, are among the gadgets that have been released during this period.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 began on Friday (September 13), with the devices hitting shelves this week (September 20).

Like the iOS 18, the iPhone 16 comes with a host of impressive upgrades – colors included. The new device will be available in five shades; white, black, ultra marine, teal and pink.

Additionally, Apple has guaranteed that the new iPhone’s screen, which is composed of a “new glass ceramic formulation,” would be 50% tougher than the original shield.
