Amber Heard Responds To Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard Case Verdict

Amber Heard had a few choice words after the final verdict was reach.

Amber Heard just lost in the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial. She now owes her ex-husband $15 million in damages. It was a crushing blow to the actress and she had a few choice words about the final verdict.

Heard released a statement.

The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband. I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously.

In her statement, she had pointed out how she had won the case in the UK and how she was disappointed that she has "lost a right I thought I had as an American - to speak freely and openly."

After six weeks of trial, the jury came to the final verdict that Amber Heard's op-ed piece was indeed defamatory and that it caused significant damage to Depp's life and career. Depp was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. Heard, on the other hand, was given $2 million for compensatory damages relating to her counter lawsuit
