Here Are All The Upcoming Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Films

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is probably Hollywood's hardest working actor. I mean, he is in almost every big budget film and he's just not stopping. He's got a whole lot more on the way and here are all the upcoming Dwayne Johnson films that have been announced.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw

Hobbs And Shaw

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham will be returning as Hobbs and Shaw in this epic Fast and Furious spinoff. In the film Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw team up to take on a genetically enhanced villain played by Idris Elba. Hobbs and Shaw hits US theaters on August 2nd, 2019.

Untitled Jumanji Sequel

Jumanji Cast

Dwayne Johnson is coming back once again to take on all kinds of crazy Jungle creatures in the third Jumanji film. The plot is currently unknown but we can expect to see it in theaters on December 13th, 2019.

Disney's Jungle Cruise

Disney's Jungle Cruise

Dwayne Johnson never stops working, clearly. In this upcoming film "Jungle Cruise" Johnson plays a riverboat captain who takes a scientist, played by Emily Blunt and her brother (comedian Jack Whitehall) on a dangerous jungle mission to find a mythical tree with healing powers. It's expected to hit theaters on July 24th, 2020. Filming is reportedly wrapped up. There isn't a trailer yet but we got an announcement video last year featuring the two main characters.

The King

Dwayne Johnson

This new film will be probably the most native role we'll see Dwayne Johnson play in a long time. This new film explores the story of King Kamehameha who is the first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii. In the film, we will see The King fight to unite the warring islands. Johnson, who spent some of his teenage years in Hawaii said that he is very humbled to play the role: "[I'm] humbled and grateful to begin this once in a lifetime journey. From the day I began my Hollywood career, my dream was to bring this legacy to life." The King is expected to begin filming in 2020.

San Andreas 2

San Andreas

The first San Andreas movie made $473 million worldwide in 2015. So, as one can expect, Hollywood was quick to start work on a sequel. Most of the cast are expected to return to the sequel including Dwayne Johnson. There's no word yet on a release date but we'll definitely keep you updated.

Black Adam

Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson will soon be joining the DCEU as Black Adam. There's no word on release date or production status but there is a script, according to producer Hiram Garcia  “We’re very deep into a script on it, which is coming along really well," he told Collider recently. "I’m really excited with the story we’ve crafted. You kind of have this living superhero in Dwayne Johnson, so I was always trying to figure out what’s the perfect character that will fit him.”

Red Notice

Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot

Dwayne Johnson and his Fast & Furious series co-star Gal Gadot have been cast in the film "Red Notice". This film will see Dwayne Johnson play the role of an Interpol agent attempting to capture the most-wanted art thief in the world. The film is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2020.

Big Trouble In Little China

Big Trouble In Little China

Dwayne Johnson will be a producer and actor for the upcoming reboot of the 1986 film Big Trouble In Little China.  When the project was first announced, The Rock told Entertainment Weekly: "I loved reading the reactions from the fans, that they were so polarised – I'm the same way. My response is that I come to the project with nothing but love and respect for the original."

The film won't be a complete reboot of the 1986 film though. It will be a continuation, according to Johnson's producing partner Hiram Garcia. He told Collider "We’re going to continue the universe of Big Trouble In Little China. Everything that happened in the original exists and is standalone and I think there’s only one person that could ever play Jack Burton, so Dwayne would never try and play that character. We’re actually in a really great space with the story that we’ve cracked."

Doc Savage

Doc Savage

Dwayne Johnson has been picked up to play superhero "Doc Savage". Johnson spoke about it on Facebook saying:

“Doc was physically and mentally trained from birth by his father and a team of scientists to become the perfect human specimen with a genius level intellect. His heightened senses are beyond comprehension. He can even identify a women's perfume from half a mile away. He is literally the master of everything. But here's the #1 reason I'm excited to become Doc Savage.. HE'S A F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO! Confidently, yet innocently he has zero social graces whatsoever due to his upbringing so every interaction he has with someone is direct, odd, often uncomfortable and amazingly hilarious."

At the moment, there's no word on release date or when production will begin.

Alpha Squad Seven

Alpha Squad Seven

This film has been in the pipeline for quite some time. Dreamworks acquired the rights to it after a big bidding war but has been very slow to work. The Rock will be in it and will partner up with another big name actor or actress but we have no idea who they might be. There isn't much information on this film and we reckon that this is at the bottom of The Rock's busy schedule.
