Can we expect to see more of All Of Us Are Dead on Netflix? Let's explore.
All Of Us Are Dead is a zombie-fied K-Drama series that captured the attention of many fans. Lee Jae-kyoo directed the show and in an interview with The Korea Herald, he mentioned that he purposefully left room in the script for a second season.
"Many directions, settings, and scenes were intentionally produced to expand the story into an additional season, including the introduction of the new races of zombies," Lee said.
"If the first season can be seen as having presented humanity's survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies."
This clarifies that the director definitely has a second season in mind. But the director is only one part of the equation. Netflix is another part of the equation. So, what is the fate of All Of Us Are Dead? Let's explore.
Netflix has officially renewed All Of Us Are Dead for a second season.
Netflix Korea announced the news with a video and a poster for the second season on their Instagram page with the caption: "Can we survive again? The second story of Hyosan High School friends’ fierce zombie survival period begins. #AllofUsAreDead #Netflix."
Yoon Chan-young then shared a video on YouTube speaking about the show's renewal. He said, "Hello everyone, it's been a while. Thank you to the Netflix fans worldwide for giving so much love to All of Us Are Dead season one."
The announcement then continues with other members of the cast: "How have you all been? We're doing well, and did you hear the good news? All of Us Are Dead is returning for season two! We hope you're all excited for it. What sort of events will take place in All of Us Are Dead season two? Oh, I have to go, my friends are waiting for me."
There is currently no release date for All Of Us Are Dead Season 2. There is also no word on when filming is set to begin. During an interview with Teen Vogue in March 2023, Park Ji-hu stated that filming had not yet begun. With this in mind, we can assume that we won't be seeing the second season anytime in 2023. Early 2024 seems the most likely. This is a live article and we will update this space as new information is released.
Many of the characters in the first season were killed so it's highly likely that most of them won't return. However, there were a few survivors. These include On-jo (Park Ji-hu), Su-hyeok (Park Solomon), Dae-su (Im Jae-hyuk), Ha-ri (Ha Seung-ri), Mi-jin (Lee Eun-saem), and Hyo-ryung (Kim Bo-yoon).
There's a possibility that Cheong-san will return given that Yoon Chan-young was seen in the announcement video. This would indicate that he is in the cast in some way or the other. If you recall, Cheong-san made a heroic sacrifice in the first season but is he still alive? Well, we'll have to wait and see.
More zombies? Of course. At the end of the first season, it was revealed by Nam-ra that there are more zombie-human hybrids like her roaming around. This revelation could be the perfect setup for the next season. The military will clearly want to do experiments on the zombie-human hybrids and the second season might see Nam-ra and her other zombie-human hybrid friends trying to escape the military. Netflix has not yet revealed the plot of the second season but it's one thing we can be sure of is that there are going to be zombies, and a lot of them. This is a live article and we'll update this space when new information comes our way.
There's currently only the announcement trailer we shared above. But not much footage is given in that video. We will update this space as soon as a trailer is released.
