Internet’s favorite romance series is back with another banger, After Ever Happy is back in theatres. While it was released on September 7, many viewers are waiting for it to drop on a streaming platform so they can cuddle up under blankets and make the most out of this experience. In this case, you’re in the right place. Whether you’re an unironic watcher or here to tear it apart, the film has become a huge part of a larger pop culture discourse.

For the past three films, Netflix has been releasing them on its platform. Although the films are generally called Netflix Originals, Voltage Pictures generally distributes them. And be warned that this is not the last film either. Director Castille Landon teased that there may be other works telling Variety in August 2021, “I’m working on some other projects in the “After” universe and I’ll keep that vague.” A fifth movie has since been confirmed and is currently in development with the entry being called After Everything.

After Ever Happy will bring the original squad back with Landon returning as the director while Sharon Soboil serves as the writer. The cast for this film includes Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Josephine Langford, Carter Jenkins, Louise Lombard, Rob Estes, Kiana Madeira, and Chance Perdomo. The plot reads, “As a shocking truth about a couple’s families emerges, the two lovers discover they are not so different from each other. Tessa is no longer the sweet, simple, good girl she was when she met Hardin — any more than he is the cruel, moody boy she fell so hard for.”

It is unclear when the film will be on Netflix and even if it does come on the streaming platform, it generally only releases in certain regions. The regions expected to receive the film are Netflix Canada, Netflix USA, Netflix Hong Kong, Netflix India, Netflix Japan, Netflix Malaysia, Netflix Phillippines and Netflix Thailand. It is also entirely probable that the film won’t show up in these regions at the same time. Asian branches of Netflix generally get the film on their roster way before western audiences have a chance to watch it.

The previous film After We Fell released in the Asian versions of Netflix in October 2021, while the US had to wait until mid-January 2022. This time, however, Amazon Prime Video has bought the rights for the films After We Fell and After Ever Happy in August of 2021. So for audiences in the UK and France, Amazon Prime Video is releasing the film in September 2022.
