The first season made its debut on November 10, 2020, and has a total of ten episodes.

A Teacher Season 2

A Teacher is an American drama TV series based on Hannah Fidell’s 2013 film of the same name starring Lindsay Burdge and Will Brittain. Hannah Fidell created this show for FX with Kate Mara and Nick Robinson in the lead roles. After season 1 dropped, viewers wanted another season. Will it happen? It doesn't look likely but anything is possible. According to TV Season & Spoilers, the first season made its debut on November 10, 2020, and has a total of ten episodes. It follows the complicated story of a relationship between a teacher and her student, Eric.

The creators of the show did not plan on a future season after the first. A Teacher was produced to have only ten episodes, but currently, the creators have no intention to expand its original storyline. Even lead actress Kate Mara is not hopeful about a second season. In an interview with The Wrap, she said, “I hope we were doing three more installments of it. But I don’t know how we would proceed unless there was no time passing at all because we’re both sporting sort of older than we are at the finish. Hopefully, it unlocks the door to breaking customs and opens the door to putting more stories from different points of view. This one, especially coming from the male victim’s pov, is very, very unique and important. It makes it less, hopefully, less taboo for people who have had encounters where they are the so-called ‘survivor victim,’ that it’s less unusual to talk about.”

To elaborate on the show's ending (spoiler alert!) Kate Mara shared with EW how the candid conversation between the now-adult Eric and his former teacher was a positive thing. "It was never a secret how we thought it would likely end. [Creator] Hannah's [Fidell] very open about the storyline and she wanted my input as well and Nick's so that was definitely a discussion. We talked a lot about slightly different versions or things that could be said. It's interesting because obviously the subject matter is so risqué and intense and it's very controversial, so people's reactions are either: people love the ending and think it makes total sense and then there's the other side of it where people are like, 'I know this is horrible but there's a version where I wanted them to end up together or to leave it open-ended where you think they might.'"

"I found that interesting because for me playing her, you want there to be some sort of forgiveness or, while I don't think this is a romantic show at all, I think the romantic person would hope for a more optimistic ending. But I do see it as optimistic. Eric, the survivor, is finding his voice and he stands up to her and speaks the truth. I think that's why it's hard to watch because hopefully, when watching the show, you have at some point or another felt some sort of empathy or compassion for Claire as well. Hopefully. [Laughs]," she concluded.
