A Cult Classic Horror Film Voted "Too Scary To Finish" Tops The Streaming Charts

A school of fish are taking big bites out of the streaming charts!

Piranha

The horror genre is among the most viral movie genres to date, and the streaming world is for sure taking advantage of it. Back in 1978, a low-budget cult film was released on our shores and took a big bite out of the box office. The film was called Piranha and it was voted by many moviegoers at the time as "too scary to finish".

Director Joe Dante wanted the film Piranha to be a combination of two of the most sought after genres in the world: Horror and Comedy. He seemed to have done it well enough to garner quite the audience.

The film is about a school of mutant Piranha fish who attack visitors at a summer camp.

On a small budget of $770,000, Piranha was able to gross $16 million, plus any money that Netflix may have paid for the streaming rights. The film was and still is a commercial success.

On top of that, the film managed to top the streaming charts, according to FlixPatrol

The film stars the talents of Bradford Dillman, Heather Menzies, Kevin McCarthy, Keenan Wynn, Barbara Steele, and Dick Miller.

Piranha is now streaming on Netflix.
