‘Oresuki‘ may seem like your regular harem with cliché characters and repetitive stories at first look, but the series offers much more than that. The anime series follows an average high-school student who gets invited on two dates by two beautiful girls, only for them to confess that they are in love with his best friend and ask for his help.
‘Oresuki’ (short for Ore wo Suki Nano wa Omae Dake ka yo aka Are You Really the Only One Who Likes Me?) is based on a Japanese light novel series written by Rakuda and illustrated by Buriki.
The anime adaptation by Connect aired from October to December 2019. An OVA was released in September 2020. Although it has been over four years since the series was released, fans are already wondering if the anime will have more seasons in the future. Let’s find out.
Is ‘Oresuki’ Renewed For Season 2?
We are still waiting for renewal announcements for the second season of ‘Oresuki.’ The first season was produced by Connect Studios, but the company remains tight-lipped about its renewal so far. The studio didn’t cancel the show either, so we can still cling to our hopes of seeing season 2.
The first season got a generally good reception from viewers. ‘Oresuki‘ scored 7.30/10 from 248,525 votes on MyAnimeList.
When Will ‘Oresuki’ Season 2 Release?
The anime is not renewed for season 2 yet, so we still can’t give you a release date. Don’t worry because we will continue to check out for the latest updates for you.
Is There Enough Source Material For ‘Oresuki’ Season 2?
Yes, there is! There’s plenty of source material that can cover ‘Oresuki‘ season 2. The inaugural season of ‘Oresuki‘ consists of only 12 episodes. There are already 17 volumes of the LN series published so far, with the latest volume released on January 8th, 2022. Aside from that, the authors are also publishing a manga series and already released six volumes. Having enough source material means more chances of an anime getting more seasons.
What Is The Plot Of ‘Oresuki’ And What Can Happen In Season 2?
‘Oresuki‘ follows Amatsuyu “Joro” Kisaragi, an ordinary student who gets asked out alone by two beautiful girls: the upperclassman Sakura “Cosmos” Akino and his childhood friend Aoi “Himawari” Hinata. Think it’s a happy start? Unfortunately, no. Both girls confessed that they liked his best friend, Taiyо̄ “Sun-chan” Ōga, not him. They both asked for Joro’s help to get Sun-chan’s attention. Things even get more complicated when Sumireko “Pansy” Sanshokuin, a nerdy girl in braids and glasses, confessed to Joro that she is in love with him. Hence, the title: “Are You Really the Only One Who Likes Me?”
The follow-up season will continue to chronicle the complicated romances between these characters. Sakura and Aoi had a change of heart and started developing feelings for Joro after finding out about Sun-chan’s true personality. Amidst the confusion, we are expecting Joro to finally sort out his true feelings for the girls once and for all.
