It is known to Japanese audiences as ‘Hai to Genso no Gurimugaru’ and is based on the light novel series written by Ao Jumonji and illustrated by Eiri Shirai.
Renowned studio A-1 Pictures did the animation for the TV series. The manga series, on the other hand, was written by Mutsumi Okubashi and published by Square Enix.
The series was renowned for its engaging and emotional storytelling as well as its elaborate character development from the first episode to the last. This, coupled with the stellar soundtracks made by (K)NoW_NAME, made the series even more revered.
Despite all the positive reception, the series was unable to round up enough earnings for a second season, amidst the countless hopeful rumors that we’ve been getting over the years.
When Is The Release Date Of Grimgar Of Fantasy And Ash Season 2?
As of now, there hasn’t been a peep or two of a potential season 2 for Grimgar Of Fantasy And Ash. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that if you want something really bad, you need to get your voice heard on numerous social media platforms and forums until anime studio members and directors cave in and revive or continue with a series, as the shows on Netflix do.
Some favorite shows have a five-year gap until they make their comeback, and if that is something to live by, we may expect a second season to drop sometime in 2024. One can dream, can’t they?
What’s The Plot Of Grimgar Of Fantasy And Ash? (Spoilers!)
The story of Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash focuses on a group of rookie adventurers who suddenly get transported into a strange, RPG-like world, having no recollection of their memories, save for their names.
With that in mind, the group seemed entirely out of their element when battling goblins in a forest and has no other choice but to run away. The group must fight to persevere in this world by finding work to earn their meals and develop as warriors, along with finding out why they were sent to this unknown world.
Slowly, as the series progresses, we get various flashbacks of cellphones, airplanes, and other things that suggest the group may have been transported from the modern world. And just like a typical RPG, the group must choose their desired classes, join guilds, defeat a myriad of enemies and monsters to build up experience or XP, and earn gold.
The group initially traveled as a party of six, until goblins slaughtered their leader Manato, who was a priest. Afterward, Haruhiro took over as the group’s leader and saw Mary, who joined the party, later on, assume the role as the group’s new priest.
Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash Characters (Spoilers!)
Manato
Manato was a priest who was also the leader to the group of young adventurers to come to this series’ mysterious new and unfamiliar world. In his role, Manato was a formidable fighter who is considered to be a defensive tank and became the leader upon bringing every party member together. However, he was killed rather earlier in the series in an ambush by a group of goblins. After that, Haruhiro took over as a leader for the group.
Haruhiro
The defacto or default protagonist after the demise of Manato, Haruhiro, was the party’s nervous thief who eventually took over as leader of the group later on. He wasn’t especially powerful at the start of the series but finally covers that gap upon becoming the new leader by learning new skills, turning him into a strong and dependable warrior.
Yume
Yume is the cheery and friendly hunter of the group with quite a sharp memory. She’s a capable hunter when armed with a dagger and a bow, but when it concerns combat, she’s not very skilled with her bow. That’s why when it comes to close-range melee attacks, she prefers using her dagger for the occasion.
Shihoru
Shihoru is a petite young girl who is rather shy and socially awkward around other people. But as the mage of the group, Shihoru is a highly crucial character. And when it comes to combat, she’s a force to be reckoned with, especially with her powerful spells and abilities. The only thing she lacks is defensive skills, which is supplemented by her teammates, who distract enemies for her while she charges her spells and abilities.
Moguzo
The tank of the group. Don’t let his appearance deceive you, Moguzo is the strongest warrior of the party in terms of physical strength. He wields a giant sword and is covered almost entirely with armor. He also continually engages with the biggest foes that the party comes in contact with.
But despite his overwhelming strength, Moguzo is a kind individual who always shares enlightening words with his group to liven their spirits up. He is also an excellent cook who can whip up the tastiest of post-battle meals. Because of his characteristics, it was a massive blow for the team when he dies later in the show. Taking his place was another tank warrior known as Kuzaku.
Ranta
Ranta is the party’s knight and is one of the most important figures. But despite that, he is pretty loud and obnoxious towards others and isn’t anything like the honorable knights most people know of. Nevertheless, he is an adept swordsman, dons light armor, and wishes to engage enemies only after he flanks them. It is later revealed that Ranta is rude to his party members on purpose, so he could eventually prepare them for a true common foe.
Merry
Merry is a priest who becomes Manato’s replacement after his death. She was a member of another party before she eventually joined up with Haruhiro’s group. She is pretty stoic and only imparts a few words to others. This is because she mourns the death of her former party members and has displayed exceptional healing capabilities.
