Tragically, a professional gymnast died while shooting a selfie at a castle in Germany.

Czech athlete Natalie Stichova was taking in the views at the castle that served as the basis for Walt Disney’s popular Sleeping Beauty movie.

On August 15, the 23-year-old is reported to have fallen close to the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany.

She reportedly tumbled 80 meters down the Tegelberg Mountain while attempting to shoot a picture for Instagram.

Natalie’s buddy told the local press that she had been standing extremely near the mountain’s edge when she went down.

The friend said: “She fell from a height of about 80 metres. We will never find out whether she slipped or whether a piece of the rock edge broke off.”

When Natalie fell from the mountain—which the police described as a “challenging climb”—she was with her boyfriend, David, and two friends.

According to the local media, Natalie was rushed to the hospital after suffering potentially fatal injuries from the fall, and a few days later, her life support was removed.

After it was discovered that she had sustained irreversible brain damage and was declared dead on August 21, her family made the choice.

Her club, Sokol Pribram Sports Gymnastics, shared their shock and anguish, which was obtained by Newsflash.

It read: “With deep sorrow, we announce that our wonderful friend, gymnast, representative, and coach, Natalka Stichova, has left us forever due to a tragic accident.

“She lost her fight for life on 21st August at 5:30am.

“Natalka spread smiles throughout her short life, and that is how we will remember her forever.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and close friends, sending them strength and support.

“To honor Natalka’s memory, you are welcome to light a candle at our gymnasium.”

Her mother also said, as per Newsflash: “There is no one who didn’t love her. Our Natálie was the sweetest person.”

However, this isn’t the first fall at the historic Neuschwanstein Castle.

Troy Bohling, 31, was found guilty in June of last year of raping and killing Eva Liu, 21, as well as throwing her and her friend Kelsey Chang, 23, down a ravine.

Before beginning his terrible assault on the helpless women, Bohling, a resident of Michigan State in the United States, is reported to have persuaded them to join him at the viewing point.

Eva’s injuries were too great to heal, and while both women were taken to the hospital, Eva passed away.

Chang lived, and in March of this year, Bohling was given a life sentence for rape and murder.

Bavarian police said in a statement at the time: “The man then steered the two under a pretext to a trail that was difficult to see, which leads to a viewpoint.

“According to the current state of knowledge, an attempted sexual offence to the detriment of the 21-year-old must be assumed.”

“The younger of the two women was attacked by the suspect,” police spokesman Holger Stabik told the AP.

“The older one tried to rush to her aid, was then choked by the suspect and subsequently pushed down a slope.”
