‘The Order’ Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

‘The Order’ season 2 left a couple of cliffhangers, leaving fans expecting that the show will be renewed for season 3. The show has an active fan base, thanks to its elaborate plot complete with deadly magicians, cults, and demons. During a virtual Comic-Con@Home panel, executive producer Chad Oakes said that they are optimistic and hopeful for the show to return. So, is season 3 happening? Here is everything we know.

Will There Be ‘The Order’ Season 3?

Renewal Status: Canceled

We hate to bring you bad news, but the show is no longer coming back for season 3. Executive producer and writer Dennis Heaton announced the cancelation on Twitter on November 14, 2020.

“For two seasons, I was honored to work with an incredible cast and crew on The Order for @netflix. It is one of the best experiences of my career. Unfortunately, we aren’t returning, but I will always cherish the memories and the props I stole. Thank you all for watching,”

Netflix’s decision came as a huge blow both to fans and the team behind the series. The show premiered in March of 2019 and was given a renewal that same month, while season 2 dropped in June 2020. Season 2 ended with a couple of cliffhangers, so it was kinda easy to assume that they were thinking of getting at least one more season to wrap things up.

‘The Order’ Season 3 Plot: What The Next Season Could’ve Been All About?

Heaton provided us some clues about what the next season of ‘The Order’ could’ve been if Netflix renewed the show. According to Heaton, Jack was going to raise Alyssa from the dead. However, she “was going to come back wrong”.

“Like, Pet Sematary wrong. Probably possessed by Zecchia. And a whole bunch of other corpses were coming back with her,” Heaton wrote.

There were some major cliffhangers from season 2 that will remain unanswered now the show is canceled. For one, what could’ve happened to Vera now that she is left powerless. During an interview with Three If By Space, actress Katharine Isabelle said that her character “is probably going to have to rely on Hamish a lot going forward”.

Isabelle talked about how Vera must play “a very smart game” and recounted her character’s possibility of going on the run to survive. Nevertheless, the actress sounded confident that Vera was going to get her power back.

“No matter what, Vera will stop at nothing to get her magic back. It is her life.”

As for Alyssa’s fate, we’ll never know what’s next for the character after she gets savagely mauled by Midnight towards the end of season 2. Is she even alive? In the final moments of season 2, we saw Jack carrying Alyssa’s blood-stained and seemingly dead body into the woods, along with the Vade Maecum, a magical tome that contains the most powerful incantation in the world. Will he be using magic to bring Alyssa back? If the show was picked up for season 3, Jake Manley says bringing Alyssa back to life would be his character’s main focus.

“I know Jack’s biggest focus will be doing whatever he can to bring Alyssa back. To do this, I think he’s going to need help from people he doesn’t necessarily want to associate or work with.” Manley told Three If By Space.

Nonetheless, he believes that if it’s possible to bring Alyssa back, it would certainly come with a cost. All of this and more could’ve set up the third season plot.

‘The Order’ Season 3 Cast: Who Could’ve returned?

If only the show gets rescued for season 3, we would have expected to see the following cast members to reprise their roles. We are expecting to see Sarah Greyback as Alyssa for season 3 despite getting severely injured after getting mauled by Gabrielle in werewolf form in season 2. The rest of the characters we’re expecting to see are Jack Morton (Jake Manley), Vera Stone (Katharine Isabelle), Randall Carpio (Adam DiMarco), Nicole Birch (Anesha Bailey), Lilith Bathory (Devery Jacobs), Gabrielle Dupres (Louriza Tronco), Hamish Duke (Thomas Elms) and more. There are also other characters we’ haven’t met but wanted to see in season 3.There were mentions of Alpha, the sixth werewolf and leader of the Knights of Saint Christopher, in the past season. However, we’ve never met the character yet. It’s such a disappointment to see the show end without even seeing Alpha.
