A recent update raises concerns regarding a Season 2 of The Ossan Newbie Adventurer.
The freshly released anime adaptation of the light novel of the same name follows a 30-year-old who, after years of debating, becomes an adventurer despite the fact that it’s a young man’s game.
Season 1 ended Tuesday, September 24, after debuting in July. Ossan’s first season is over, but people want more.
The Ossan Newbie Adventurer Season 2 Concerns Fans
Ossan Newbie Adventurer director Shin Katagami may have created concern about Season 2 of the blockbuster anime.
In a post on Yumeta’s X (previously Twitter) profile, Katagami alarmed fans by calling the Season 1 finale the “conclusion:”
“The TV anime ‘Shinmai Ossan Bōkensha’ has now reached its conclusion, but the original work and the comic book adaptation are still ongoing. There’s no shortage of original work!”
Many expected a Season 2 of the 2024 anime, but no news has been released.
If Katagami is to be believed though, then that may not be the case, and the series could be one-and-done
The anime’s manga has nine volumes to adapt, so Katagami and co. have enough of story material for a second season.
Will Season 2 of Ossan Newbie Adventurer Happen?
As of writing, a second season of The Ossan Newbie Adventurer has not been greenlit; however, that is by no means confirmation it will not happen (even despite what the series director may say).
Anime titles are usually renewed one season at a time, sometimes long after the last season ended.
Consider the hit show Solo Leveling, which premiered this year. Solo Leveling was announced for Season 2 in mid-September, despite its 2024 release.
The Ossan Newbie Adventurer has also garnered attention. Crunchyroll rates the series 4.8 out of five with over 36.6 thousand reviews.
Critical reception of a title helps determine renewal, but it is not the only determinant.
The show has merely touched on the manga’s larger tale.
After Season 1, there are many directions to go, and the first 12 episodes have merely begun its world and ever-expanding fantasy adventure.
The Ossan Newbie Adventurer has done its best to justify a second season. It simply needs approval from the powers that be.
