‘Dracula’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

It’s a pity that BBC‘s 2020 series ‘Dracula‘ was so short it felt like it ended in a blink of an eye. The network’s adaptation of the most iconic vampire only had 3 episodes that ran for about 90 minutes each.

Starring Claes Bang, ‘Dracula‘ traces the origin of the blood-sucking immortal in Eastern Europe and followed his battles with Van Helsing‘s descendants and beyond. The series was well-received by critics for its ‘energetic and fun’ take on the classic horror icon.

‘Dracula’ had a definitive ending, but Claes Bang and the rest of the people behind the series continue to hope that there will be more for the show.

So, will ‘Dracula‘ return for season 2? Here is what we know.

Will There Be ‘Dracula’ Season 2?

Renewal Status: Pending

‘Dracula’ is initially planned to be a limited series, which means that the creators didn’t have season 2 in mind when they made the show. Season 1 ended with the death of Dracula, leading us to believe it’s truly the end of the series.

However, the creators have given us a few hints that death could just be a beginning and that season 2 is always possible.

“It’s very hard to kill a vampire,” actor Mark Gatiss, who plays Frank Renfield and co-wrote the series, told Radio Times. “Do you know what I mean? What they do is resurrect.”

Creator Stephen Moffat also refuses to give us a direct answer saying, “That would be to give away how it ends, wouldn’t it?” he said. “So you’ll have to wait and see.” Unfortunately, there are still no clear plans for the renewal of the show.

When Will ‘Dracula’ Season 2 Release?

We are still waiting for the renewal of the series, so there is still no release date for now. The three-episode series premiered on 1 January 2020 on  BBC One before releasing on Netflix.

What Is The Possible Plot Of ‘Dracula’ Season 2?

The first season wrapped up the story of Dracula pretty nicely. So if the show gets renewed for another season, they will have to create an entirely new storyline for the vampire. ‘Dracula‘ will likely resurrect and embark on a new adventure and meet new faces along the way. The good thing about the legendary vampire is that he is immortal, which means that the show’s creators have the freedom to write a story about him regardless of the time jump.

Who Are In The Cast Of ‘Dracula’ Season 2?

It’s hard to predict the cast list at this point. If the show gets renewed for season 2, Claes Bang is the only cast member who is likely to return since he plays the titular role.

Bang has already expressed his interest in returning for the role. When asked by Digital Spy regarding the show’s renewal status, he said that a decision has not been made yet, but he would love to do more.

“The only thing I can say positively is that I would love to do one more. I would love to get back with those people. It was one of the best things I have ever been on.”

The rest of the season 1 cast includes Dolly Wells as Sister Agatha Van Helsing, John Heffernan as Jonathan Harker, Morfydd Clark as Mina Murray, Morfydd Clark as Mina Murray, Lujza Richter as Elena.

Jonathan Aris as Captain Sokolov, Sacha Dhawan as Dr. Sharma, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as Adisa, Clive Russell as Valentin, Catherine Schell as Duchess Valeria, Patrick Walshe McBride as Lord Ruthven, and Lily Dodsworth-Evans as Dorabella, among others.
