Madagascar 4: Everything We Know So Far

Who doesn’t want to see four pampered Central Park Zoo animals back on the big screen? It’s been a long time ever since ‘Madagascar’ last arrived, and fans really hope to see ‘Madagascar’ 4 happening. The first Madagascar film was first seen in 2005, and since then fans have embarked on the journey with four animals and their adventures after they unexpectedly find themselves on the stranded island of Madagascar. The film was full of vibrant colors and the visuals were impeccable.

Some of the famous celebs also lent their voices to the adorable characters including, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, and Jada Pinkett Smith. The cast yet again did a comeback for the 2008’s ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’ in which, the lost animals were trying to make their way back to New York only to find themselves crash landing in Africa. It is only in this part of the franchise where Alex, the lion reunites with his parents. The second part was incredibly successful and garnered a bigger success than the original one.

The success led to the birth of ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’ in the year 2012, and yet again the third movie surpassed all the hits and figures of the franchise grossing nearly $750 million worldwide. There was another part of the franchise that was an animated TV series called ‘The Penguins of Madagascar’, that entertained the audience for 3 seasons

Even though the three movies ended up being successful at the box office, the fourth part of the franchise hasn’t happened yet and fans just do not want to wait any longer. Here are all the things we collected about the planned sequel of the Madagascar movie.

‘Madagascar’ 4 Was Confirmed In 2014

There was no surprise in the fact that after the worldwide success of Madagascar’s third movie, there was a fourth one happening. Dreamworks also kept the madness alive by airing movie spinoff Penguins Of Madagascar in 2014. It was during the same year when the production team released the date as May 2018 for Madagascar 4. However, the movie was later removed from the scheduled list after a change in Dreamworks Animations policy that was, to release only two movies a year. Even though the assumption might be true for the fourth part of Madagascar happening, there haven’t been any new updates about its production and release dates.

As of this update, Dreamworks has not announced any new development on the fourth film yet.

What Can Be The Story Of Madagascar 4?

From the little information available about the plot of Madagascar 4, the movie will be the final entry of the franchise. If we go back to 2014, the third movie, it ended up with the four buddies joining the circus after realizing that they no longer want to be in captivity anymore. Therefore, the new story for the fourth part might involve the group heading back to Africa, with the return of the same voice cast. However, due to the lack of concrete information, nothing can be said with surety.

Can We Be Positive About Madagascar 4 Happening?

Twitter

Well, if we go with the technicality here, then leaving Madagascar 4 wouldn’t be a wise decision as it is a valuable property. The success the franchise has garnered is remarkable and the movies have collectively grossed close to $2 billion worldwide. Of course, it does feel a little strange to see Dreamworks taking so long to start working on the fourth part of the franchise, but it is not a new thing for animated series to take prolonged breaks before they come with a bang. Also, if we roll back the time to 2017, the director of the franchise, Tom McGrath last updated that even though there is nothing ready to be announced about the fourth movie, he would want to see the characters return for one last time.

Therefore, all we can do is keep an eye on any updates regarding the release of Madagascar 4, and hope for it to hit the theaters soon! After all, we do need a bit of laughter in our lives these days, don’t we?
