Russian TV Channels Fine Google $2 Undecillion Rubles

Google may need to save to repay this massive sum.

Google is having some strange moments.

A Russian court ordered YouTube to reimburse Russian TV broadcasters restricted on YouTube.

Google was ordered to pay 2 undecillion rubles (36 zeros) in Russian court on October 28.

This is about $20,565,635,200,000,003,000,000,000,000,000,000.

The court had earlier ordered the company to pay 100,000 rubles ($1,026) per day the TV channels were blocked.

The fee would double weekly and grow rapidly.

So here we are with made-up money amounts.

Obviously, $20,565,635,200,000,003,000,000,000,000,000,000 is a lot.

An undecatrillion is a theoretical amount of money.

Why theoretical? Because it is much larger than the worth of all assets on Earth.

Google will likely never pay this fortune unless they have a planet’s worth of wealth beneath the sofa.

Social media users have mocked the absurdity of the scenario and doubted the tech corporation will ever pay the court.

“Seems unlikely they’ll be popping out to the bank this morning to arrange that…,” one user commented.

“That amount is roundabout 9 billions time more than the entire money and gold reserves on planet earth- I want to smoke what those judges were smoking, and I want to smoke it now!!” joked another.

“And what, Russia going to invade Google? It will be a one-sided war for google,” a third mocked.

Oh, no… anyway,” a fourth joked.

According to Novaya Gazeta, Russian media companies sued Google in 2020 for blocking access to ultranationalist news source Tsargrad TV and the now-defunct Internet Research Agency.

This is when the company began accumulating daily penalties.

RBC News says that 17 Russian TV networks have sued Google.
