What Salma Hayek and Nicole Kidman said to each other during their incredibly awkward encounter has been revealed by a lip reading expert.
Kidman was joined by a host of other stars including Katy Perry at Balenciaga’s recent show at Paris Fashion Week on September 30.
On the front row, among the singer and actress Kidman from The Family Affair, we can see Salma Hayek and her husband François-Henri Pinault, as well as Anna Wintour, Kyle MacLachlan, and Bill Skarsgård.
Pinault heads the luxury fashion conglomerate Kering, which includes names like Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Balenciaga.
With this in mind, Hayek was doing everything she could last night to help her husband’s brands get publicity – including by having A-listers Kidman and Perry pose for photos at the event.
However, a video of Kidman and Hayek’s clearly uncomfortable exchange—in which Kidman appears to push Hayek away from her—has gone viral.
Famous actress Salma Hayek (Frida, Desperado, and House of Gucci) attempted to steer Kidman toward photographers in the video.
Now expert lip reader Jeremy Freeman has analyzed what the pair said to one another.
Speaking to UNILAD, Freeman explained that Hayek said, ‘Let’s turn there. OK here,’ as she tried to shift Kidman into position.
“Hey, I’m good, I’m fine,” Kidman said before planting a kiss on Perry’s cheek.
“There, it’s enough, it’s OK,” she added afterwards.
It may be said that Hayek appeared little irritated after Kidman cast her out.
After walking away, Kidman then seemed to say ‘You don’t need it’ and Hayek said ‘I do’, but it’s unclear what exactly they were referring to.
Despite the uncomfortable incident, Hayek still shared a photo of her and Kidman to her Instagram page.
On October 1, the Grown Ups actress shared a few photos with the caption: “Finally last night the grand finale of my Paris Fashion Week 2025.”
The post consisted of several photos of Hayek, a video of Perry showing off what she had in the inside zipper part of her dress, a short clip of Hayek saying hello to Lindsay Lohan from across the runway, and a snap of her and Kidman together with Kidman looking down at the ground.
Noting the photos with the actress, one person commented: “Nicole was mean to you, but you still posted a picture with her. You have kindness in your heart!”
Another person asked: “Nicole was so rude to you, why take pictures with her?”
