‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ is a Netflix animated series based on the popular franchise by Capcom

The anime takes place between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 and follows Leon and Claire as they investigate a hacking incident in the White House in 2006. However, the two encounter zombies instead after the white house gets targeted by a mysterious attack. ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ is directed by Eiichirō Hasumi.

Shogo Moto co-wrote the script with Hasumi, while Hiroyasu Shinohara served as a producer.

The first season of the anime only has four episodes. That left plenty of room for another season to continue the plot.

Is ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ returning for season 2? Here is what we know.

Will There Be’ Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ Season 2?

‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ arrived on Netflix on July 8, 2021. However, until now, the anime is yet to get renewed for season 2. That is not necessarily a bad thing, though. Some titles get renewed early, while others had to wait for a while to secure a renewal.

Netflix often takes a look at viewing figures before deciding whether to renew a show or not. The same goes with animes. ‘Resident Evil’ is among the most popular franchises, so we expect the anime to get a sizable audience.

When Will’ Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ Season 2 Release?

There is still no release date announcement for ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness.’

The first season of the anime arrived on Netflix in July 2021. Usually, Netflix titles take a one-year gap before releasing new seasons. However, since there is still no renewal, we can’t assure you that this is going to be the case for ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ season 2. There are instances when the streamer surprises us with official trailers for new seasons without giving us a renewal announcement ahead. If that will happen for ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness,’ we can expect it to return in late 2023 or early 2024. We will continue to watch out for future updates.

What Is The Plot Of ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ Season 2?

There are plenty of stories to cover in ‘Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness’ season 2.

However, the most important question will be if Leon and Claire will uncover the sinister truth behind Tricell?

Tricell is a multi-industrial conglomerate that ousted Umbrella as the most renowned pharmaceutical company. Excella Gionne, the major villain from Capcom’s Resident Evil 5, leads the company. Since Tricell replaced Umbrella, it is clear that the company is the mastermind behind Wilson’s super-soldier project and his efforts to establish a US military base on the Chinese border.

Leon and Claire will be conducting their separate investigations regarding the origin of Wilson’s virus, which will eventually lead them to Tricell. Their involvement in the investigation will urge the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) to start looking into Tricell’s sinister works in Kijuju.

Nonetheless, we expect Leon and Claire to eventually work together as they continue to uncover the nefarious plans of Tricell.
