Pieces of Her is a thriller drama Netflix series that has been available for streaming since March 4, 2022. The show starring Toni Collette and Bella Heathcote in the lead roles has been well received by viewers as well as critics. It is based on the bestselling book by Karin Slaughter of the same name. The eight-part series follows the story of Andy (Heathcote) who uncovers the dark past of her mother, Laura (Collette) after a violent shootout in their small town that brings hidden threats and deadly secrets to light. Andy puts together Laura’s pieces through a lot of backstories and surprising twists and turns. Andy’s view of her family, especially that of her mother, changes forever. Will There Be Season 2 Of Pieces of Her?
The show has not yet been renewed for a second season.The numbers and popularity are something Netflix takes into consideration before renewing the show. So far, in terms of the stats, it’s looking good for the series.
The show was based on the novel and has followed the source material for the most part. The book by Slaughter is a standalone book so there is no more source material for the show to use. The ending of the show, however, has been changed a bit and left open-ended giving it potential for exploring more if there is a renweal. Chances of a renewal don’t look too good right now, given the length of time that has elapsed since we’ve heard any news. But we’ll keep you posted.
What Will The Plot Of Pieces of Her Season 2 Be?
The changed ending ends with a standoff between Nick and Laura, where Laura gets Nick framed for a crime he did not commit. The ending in the book is more definitive but on the show, Nick’s fate is unknown and there is also Jasper who is blackmailing Laura who is trying to go back to living a normal life again. There is a lot of potential for the story to get a life of its own and continue beyond the source material.
“It started as a limited, and then I think there was a decision made at a certain point to go for a series,” showrunner Charlotte Stoudt told The Hollywood Reporter. “I believe that was a Netflix decision, but there’s certainly a lot more to tell and I purposely kind of started building it out a little bit more. I tried to open it up so it could have some legs should it find an audience.”
Who Will Be Cast In Pieces of Her Season 2?
If the series does get renewed as expected, Collette as Laura and Heathcote as Andy will surely be returning. Aaron Jeffery as Nick may also be reprising his role along with Jacob Scipio as Michael Vargas. But Gil Birmingham as Charlie Bass will not be returning unless there is a throwback scene in the second season.
When Will Pieces of Her Season 2 Be Released?
If the series does get renewed and starts filming this year, we can expect to see the next season in 2025. The first season started filming in January 2021 in Australia and premiered in 2022.
