‘In From The Cold’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

The Netflix series, In From the Cold, from showrunner Adam Glass follows a seemingly mild-mannered mother named Jenny as she travels to Europe with her daughter on vacation. But things take a surprising twist when she’s forced to confront her long-buried past as a Russian spy and KGB operative after a string of murders. What’s more, she’s the only human subject to have survived a classified KGB experiment that’s given her special abilities. In season 1, the killer seemed to be emulating her specific skillset and persona. In From the Cold has not been officially renewed by Netflix just yet, but it is one of several shows that received a series order from Netflix in 2020.

Will In From The Cold Return With Season 2?

In From The Cold has been canceled on Netflix and won’t return for season 2. Creator, Adam Glass said in an interview with Looper that the show had to perform well in order to get a second season.

“It’s up to you to make it happen. Tell all your friends and family to watch it so that we can continue the story. We already have plans for Season 2 and even Season 3. There’s a big story here, and we hope to have the opportunity to keep telling it.”

In April 2023, Glass then posted on X saying that the show failed to get the audience required for renewal and implied the show would not return. He stated:

“We hoped we’d reach a larger audience, but we did not. But that does not detract from the great work of our cast, crew, executives, directors, and writers. Making #InFromTheCold was a dream come true; I’m forever grateful to #Netflix for making it happen.”

What Is The Plot Of In From The Cold Season 2?

Digital Spy reported that things would have likely picked up after the shocking twist in the final episode of Season One, where it was discovered that Jenny’s mother and former boss, Svetlana Petrova was behind the killings. Eventually, Jenny was forced to kill her own mother! By the end of the season, Jenny seems to have returned to a happier life, possibly alongside her CIA colleague (and love interest), Chauncey. Adam Glass told Looper that there’s plenty of material for more seasons. “We already know where season two and even season three would go,” shared Glass. “There’s a big story to tell here, and we hope we get a chance to keep telling that story.” For more seasons to come forth, he added, “Well, it’s up to you [the fans] to make it happen. Tell all your friends and family to watch it so that we can get there.”

However, it is now confirmed that the show is canceled.

Who Is Cast In In From The Cold Season 2?

If there ever is a second season, Margarita Levieva should return as Jenny Franklin along with Cillian O’Sullivan, who plays the snarky and dashing CIA agent Chauncey Lew. One character who won’t be returning is Alyona Khmelnitskaya after Jenny killed her character Svetlana Petrova (Jenny’s mother). Unless there are some flashbacks involved, of course.
