Will 1899 Return For A Season 2?

In a surprising turn of events, Netflix has made the decision to cancel the highly anticipated sci-fi series, 1899, after just one season. The series, a brainchild of the talented creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, who were also the masterminds behind the immensely popular Netflix show, Dark, shared a penchant for crafting amazing storylines that kept viewers on the edge of their seats.

1899 delved into the intricate lives of the crew and passengers aboard the Kerberos ship, weaving a web of dark secrets that intertwined their voyage with the perplexing disappearance of another ship, the Prometheus.

The co-creator of 1899, Baran bo Odar, took to Instagram to share the disheartening news of Netflix's choice not to proceed with a second season for the series. Alongside a joint statement co-authored by both bo Odar and Jantje Friese, he expressed their sincere regret that Netflix opted not to renew the show, effectively putting an end to the possibility of untangling the mysteries meticulously laid out in the season 1 finale.

Interestingly, it's revealed that the original blueprint for 1899 encompassed a storytelling arc spanning three seasons, mirroring the structure that worked so effectively for Netflix's hit series, Dark. The statement concluded with a heartfelt expression of gratitude directed towards the dedicated fanbase of 1899, acknowledging the profound impact this decision would undoubtedly have on millions of viewers. What Is The Plot of 1899?

1899 follows a group of immigrants all belonging to different parts of Europe on board a ship to America in search of better prospects. The ship soon receives an SOS signal from a ship called The Prometheus and turns its course to rescue any passengers that might be on board, the key characters of the ship are very against the decision to turn the ship course, except for the captain who feels it's necessary to do so. Upon reaching the ship, they find a single soul on onboard ie. a little boy. They bring him back on their ship and what follows is a series of unimaginable events causing several deaths onboard.

Who is in the Cast of 1899?

1899 boasts an ensemble cast belonging to different ethnicities. Emily Beecham is playing the role of Maura Franklin. She is known for her role as Alice Woodard in the drama Little Joe. Dark Fans will instantly recognize Andreas Pietschmann who played the role of grown-up Jonas in Dark. This time around he is starring as the captain of the ship Eyk Larsen. Welsh actor Aneurin Barnard who is known for his role in Dunkirk will also be on the show. Other actors include Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Mathilde Ollivier, Rosalie Craig, Maciej Musial, Jonas Bloquet, Gabby Wong, Fflyn Edwards, Yann Gael, José Pimentão, Martin Greis-Rosenthal, Anton Lesser, Maria Erwolter, Isabella Wei, and Miguel Bernardeau. Some of them are dead, yes, but they might make a return if you have watched the finale you know exactly what we mean.
