11 Child Actors From Harry Potter Whose Lives Have Changed Since Filming

The filming of the Harry Potter series covered a span of 10 years. Now many of the child actors are almost 30 and living completely different lives. Here is how their lives haved changed.

11. Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood)

I'm starting with Evanna Lynch because her story is particular close to my heart. This actress got her role in the film in the most touching way. At the young age of 11 she became hospitalized from anorexia. It was a tough time for young Lynch and she always found solace in the Harry Potter books. She penned a letter to JK Rowling about her situation and how she always wanted to play a part in Harry Potter. Rowling responded and the two became pen pals. Then, 3 years later, Rowling invited Lynch to an audition and out of 15,000 applicants she was picked, without any prior experience in acting. Lynch has since continued her acting after the Harry Potter films. She has been in five films and her latest work is a role in My Name Is Emily. She is now taking part in Dancing With The Stars.

10. James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley)

James and Oliver Phelps were huge fans of the books before they acted in the films. So when their mom heard that Warner Bros. was having auditions she prepped her boys and took them. After 6 audition stages they got the role. Now, they are still acting but spend a lot of their time playing golf and doing charity.

9. Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley)

Bonnie Wright has gotten quite a lot of success outside of the Harry Potter films. This vegetarian beauty became motivated to audition for the role of Ginny when her brother told her that she kind of looked like her. And thankfully she did because she owned the role of Ginny. Bonnie has since starred in 13 films and now owns her own film company where she works as a screenwriter, director and producer. Ginny is doing quite well for herself.

8. Sean Biggerstaff (Oliver Wood)

Sean played the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team and was recommended by Alan Rickman himself to play the role. Sean is still focusing on his acting career.

7. Luke Youngblood (Lee Jordan).

This loud and charismatic young firecracker was a staunch member of Gryffindor. His job on the team was to commentate the Quidditch matches and keep everyone up to speed. Lee is now in his early 30s and decided to focus his career on TV series. He has been in 10 TV series since the Harry Potter films, among them being Glee and Lie To Me. He now has a major role in Galavant. He also does work in theatre and sings.

6. Joshua Herdman (Gregory Goyle).

Josh Herdman played Gregory Goyle. He was one of Draco Malfoy’s friends and a member of Slytherin. He is now Mixed Martial Arts fighter.

5. Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley)

Everyone remembers Harry's mean cousin Dudley. In the first few movies he was a chubby little firecracker but he lost so much weight over the years that he had to wear a fat suit to take part in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Now, the young actor's career is going very well. He acts in theater productions and stars in movies and television shows. He recently acted in The Lost City of Z and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.

4. Devon Murray (Seamus Finnigan)

Devon Murray is one of the few actors in the Harry Potter films who had never heard of the books before getting casted. The Irish actor was already an actor before Harry Potter, starting his career as early as 6-years-old. He was in Yesterday's Children and reportedly didn't even have to audition for his role in Harry Potter. Besides acting, Murray spends a lot of his time horseback riding.

3. Hugh Mitchell (Colin Creevey)

Hugh Mitchell didn't have the biggest role to play in the Harry Potter films but his career really skyrocketed after. He went on to star in 16 films and series. He is now a composer, singer, and photographer.

2. Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom)

Matthew Lewis had to beg his mom to take him to the audition and when they got there they had to wait in a line for five hours. But it was definitely worth the wait because now Matthew is forever known as Neville Longbottom. Matthew is still an actor and played a part in Me Before You. He also got married to Angela Jones, an event planner at Universal Studios.

1. Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy)

Last but certainly not least. Draco Malfoy. In the film he was a sworn enemy of Harry Potter but in real life he is actually good friends with Daniel Radcliffe. Emma Watson even confessed that he was her first love. A romance however that never bloomed. Now, Tom has 2 music albums and stars in Origin, a science fiction series.
