The Brothers Sun Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

This is a live-update article and it will be updated as new details about The Brothers Sun Season 2 come our way. This is what we know so far.

The Brothers Sun

For those who might be new to the series, "The Brothers Sun" is an action-comedy series that revolves around a Taiwanese crime family. The story unfolds as a mysterious assassin disrupts the family's life, forcing the youngest member, Bruce, who is oblivious to his family's real business, to step into a world of chaos and danger. The series stars Justin Chien as the legendary killer Charles "Chairleg" Sun, Michelle Yeoh as the matriarch Eileen, and Sam Song Li as the naive younger brother, Bruce. Can we expect more of this series in the future? Let's explore.

Will There Be The Brothers Sun Season 2?

Although Netflix has not yet officially announced a second season, the creators Byron Wu and Brad Falchuk, along with the executive producer Kevin Tancharoen, have expressed their desire to continue the story. Tancharoen has hinted that there is much more to the Sun family's story than what we have seen so far and that this is just the beginning of a longer journey. Wu and Falchuk also spoke to Netflix's Tudum and stated that while the end of the season was a happy moment for the family, it's not easy to relax when you live as a gangster. Additionally, Big Sun is not an enemy that accepts defeat easily.

The first season ended on a note that left many questions unanswered. We saw Eileen, Charles, and June head back to Taipei, Taiwan, while Bruce chose to stay in Los Angeles. The creators, Byron Wu and Brad Falchuk, tease that the Sun family will face challenges in maintaining their newfound unity. Season 2 promises to go deeper into the dynamics of the Jade Dragons under the leadership of Mama Sun. And let's not forget the post-credits scene that hinted at further complications involving the police and the Triad family heads.

What To Expect In The Brothers Sun Season 2?

It is expected that Season 2 will feature many familiar faces. Key cast members like Michelle Yeoh, Justin Chien, and Sam Song Li are anticipated to return. However, some characters from the first season will not be making a comeback as they met their demise. Nevertheless, Johnny Kou's character, Big Sun, despite his precarious situation, could still play a crucial role in the upcoming season.

The potential plot for Season 2 is currently unknown, but some speculate that the story could explore the challenges of managing the Jade Dragons and the fragile unity of the Sun family, given that part of the Sun family is in Taipei and Bruce is in Los Angeles. The post-credits scene also sets up a plotline involving Frank Ma and the Triad families.
