Ryan Gosling Activates His Gosling Charm In The Fall Guy Trailer

Ryan Gosling's charisma shines in 'The Fall Guy' trailer, an '80s-inspired action-comedy directed by David Leitch, promising a blend of stunts, humor, and intrigue. Hits theaters March 1, 2024.

The Fall Guy

If you didn't count yourself as a fan of Ryan Gosling before his appearance in 'Barbie' earlier this summer, you most likely became one after witnessing his brilliant portrayal of Ken. In fact, his performance was so outstanding that it wouldn't be surprising to see him receive an Oscar nomination. However, some of us have been appreciating Gosling's talent for a considerable time, going back to when he portrayed a stoic replicant in 'Blade Runner 2049' or a similarly stoic Hollywood stuntman in 'Drive.' Now, he's taking on the role of Colt Seavers, another Hollywood stunt performer, but this time, a more talkative one, in the upcoming film 'The Fall Guy.' This action-comedy also features Emily Blunt as Colt's ex, Jody Moreno, and is directed by David Leitch, known for his work in 'John Wick' and 'Deadpool 2.' The first full trailer is available for viewing.

'The Fall Guy' appears to be a nostalgic throwback to the action comedies of the '80s and '90s. This choice aligns with the film's roots, as it's based on an '80s hit TV series that ran for five seasons from 1981 to 1986. In the original show, which starred Lee Majors from 'The Six Million Dollar Man,' the protagonist was a Hollywood stuntman who also worked as a bounty hunter. However, this new big-screen adaptation seems to deviate from that premise, opting for a murder mystery that entangles our hero.

David Leitch directing a movie centered on a stuntman feels like a perfect match. Before transitioning to the director's chair in 2014, he had an impressive career as a stuntman, dating back to 1997. His contributions to films like 'Blade' and 'Fight Club' showcased his prowess as a stunt performer. He later progressed to being a second unit director, eventually gaining acclaim for his work in 'John Wick.' With this background, Leitch seems ideally suited to helm a film that revolves around a daredevil who performs perilous stunts for a living, making this collaboration seem almost serendipitous.

'The Fall Guy' follows the story of a stuntman who, like others in the stunt community, endures explosions, gunshots, crashes, windows shattering, and perilous falls, all for the audience's entertainment. Fresh from a near-career-ending accident, this blue-collar hero embarks on a mission to locate a missing movie star, unravel a conspiracy, and rekindle a lost love while still juggling his demanding day job. The stage is set for an unpredictable and entertaining journey.
