In "Five Nights at Freddy's," Mike uncovers the kidnapper's identity, leading to a climactic showdown with dramatic consequences.

Five Nights At Freddy's Ending Explained

The horror film 'Five Nights at Freddy's' leaves us with more questions than answers as it reaches its spine-chilling conclusion. The story revolves around Mike Schmidt's relentless quest to find the kidnapper responsible for his brother Garrett's disappearance. The film takes a dark turn when Vanessa Shelly, Mike's newfound companion, reveals the shocking truth behind Garrett's vanishing and the sinister secrets lurking within Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where Mike now works.

Let's explore the intricate details of the film's ending. (Spoiler Alert)

Who is the Kidnapper?

Mike's journey to uncover the kidnapper's identity comes to a dramatic climax when Vanessa reveals the malevolent figure behind Garrett's abduction. The kidnapper is none other than her own father, William Afton, who also happens to be the owner of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Mike had known Afton as Steve Raglan, his career counselor.

Shockingly, Afton is not only the kidnapper but also a notorious serial killer who had abducted Garrett and five other children, eventually ending their lives.

Afton's diabolical method was to conceal the children's bodies within the animatronic mascots that adorned his pizzeria. This grim act was a twisted means to ensure that no one would discover the heinous crimes he committed. As if that wasn't horrifying enough, Afton continued to exert control over the possessed animatronics, operating them with a Spring Bonnie suit.

Is The Kidnapper Dead?

Even after the series of murders in the 1980s, Afton's insatiable thirst for violence remained unquenched. He kept the pizzeria closed but not destroyed, using it as a dark haven for his murderous endeavors. The possessed animatronics, unwittingly serving as his accomplices, followed his commands without realizing his true nature. His victims extended beyond kidnapped children to include the homeless, the estranged, vandals, and even Mike's predecessor.

As Afton attempted to use the mascots to kill Mike and Abby, his nefarious plans began to become unearthed. Vanessa intervened, threatening her father to protect Mike and Abby. In a twist of fate, Mike discovered that Afton controlled the other animatronics, all while keeping his involvement in the children's deaths a well-guarded secret. He ingeniously used Abby to draw a picture of the "yellow rabbit" murdering the children, causing the possessed animatronics, including Freddy, to turn against Afton. However, it was the cupcake animatronic that inadvertently triggered the spring locks in Afton's suit, causing them to pierce through his body.

Afton found himself trapped within one of the rooms at the pizzeria, slowly bleeding to death. He not only lost control over the animatronics but also the loyalty of the murdered children's spirits. The boy with the blonde hair, who served as their leader, banished Afton into the room and locked it. Afton's death seemed inevitable as the animatronics made sure no one would enter the pizzeria to aid him.

The Fate of Mike, Abby, and Vanessa

Mike and Abby's lives were spared thanks to Vanessa's courageous intervention. However, her heroic act came at a great cost as she was left in a coma after being stabbed by her own father, Afton. Her knowledge of her father's dark secrets led her to take a stand, but it also made her a target. Vanessa's chances of survival are hopeful, provided she receives prompt medical care, which Mike and Abby may have ensured.

Mike's unwavering determination to not lose another sibling played a crucial role in saving Abby. His constant obsession with finding the kidnapper and his recurrent dreams of Garrett's abduction highlights the guilt he carries for his brother's fate. Mike was willing to do whatever it took to protect Abby and ensure her safety, even if it meant sacrificing a potential reunion with Garrett.

Does Mike Lose Abby's Custody?

Despite his initial self-doubt and fears of losing Abby's custody to their aunt Jane, Mike manages to keep his sister by his side. Jane's intention to gain custody becomes irrelevant when she meets a fatal encounter with the boy with the blonde hair, Golden Freddy, who takes Abby to the pizzeria. In an off-screen incident, Jane's life is tragically cut short, removing the obstacle that could have separated Mike and Abby.

The harrowing experiences at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza ultimately bring Mike and Abby closer together. Mike comes to understand the importance of what Abby holds dear in her heart. He no longer dismisses or invalidates her feelings, and he's willing to support her in being with her animatronic friends.
